Lutheran Haven is looking for a Resident Engagement Assistant / Activities Assistant who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of older adults. In this role, you’ll help create meaningful days filled with connection, creativity, conversation, movement, celebration, and fun.
From leading an exercise session to decorating for a holiday, organizing an engaging group activity, or simply spending one-on-one time with a resident, the little moments you create can make a big difference.

What You’ll Do
As an Activities Assistant, you’ll help plan and deliver a variety of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual activities based on each resident’s interests, abilities, assessments, and care plan.
Your day may include:
- Helping plan and lead engaging group and individual activities
- Encouraging residents to participate and creating an environment where everyone feels welcome
- Leading physical exercise and stimulation activities
- Organizing seasonal celebrations and activities around traditional holidays and special events
- Decorating common areas and maintaining bulletin boards and monthly activity calendars
- Spending meaningful one-on-one time with residents who may benefit from additional encouragement or companionship
- Observing and documenting resident participation, mood, behavior, and engagement
- Safely transporting residents to activities and events within the facility
- Keeping activity spaces organized, welcoming, and stocked with supplies
- Delivering and reading mail to residents when needed
- Attending required training and in-services
- Supporting Lutheran Haven’s mission and ministry through compassionate, respectful care
What We’re Looking For
You don’t have to have a long list of credentials to succeed here. We’re looking for someone with the heart and personality to connect with our residents.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work collaboratively and treat residents, families, and coworkers with respect
Preferred, but not required:
- At least 1 year of experience working in a long-term care or senior living environment
- CNA certification
- CPR certification
- Experience planning or leading recreational, social, fitness, or group activities
